Hello.

I was wondering if someone could help me with this kanji, the one on the left of this attachment.

I can't seen to find it in my "Kanji Learner's".

For those who know the SKIP system, I would have thought that the two "shellfish" combined would count as 14 strokes so it would be 2-14-3.

Perhaps it is non-Joyo..

It is then difficult to tell if the kanji for a "new born baby" beside it, is read separately as a compound (hence having a totally different meaning).

For those who ask: It's the title of an episode of a pretty gruesome anime called "Elfen Lied".

Thanks.

Jim Breen comes in handy again. I did a bushu search (number 38) and found this.

If you search the compounds, you'll find this as well:

嬰児 【えいじ; みどりご】 (n) infant; baby

Impressive. 👍

I thought UNICODE was retricted to Joyo kanjis. I guess this example shatters my preconceptions.

At least, I was right about its SKIP number, 😌

If you have IME on your computer, you can use the drawing pad to find your Kanji too. As well as strokes an d radicals. I use it all the time.

嬰児 - エイジ :)
