In the movie 'the last samurai' there is a scene where Algren (Tom Cruise) learns Japanese from some kids.
They then get to 'fire', translated 'hi'
'to burn' is 'moeru'
those two I know

then they say a small sentence which sounded like 'edaaga moeru'
I might be wrong about the writing of 'edaaga', it sounds like that to me though
could 'edaaga' be some kind of wood? or is it completely something else?

I don't know if the '-ga' part would be part of the word or a separate particle, so I hope it isn't to much puzzling

Thank you!

That's "eda ga". "Eda" means branch, and "ga" is a particle to indicate the subject.
