The name, as Lomaster and Toritoribe pointed out, is Nakajima.
You can find the name toward the bottom of the fabulous site here

Just a slight correction to Lomaster's original post: it doesn't actually say "Empire of" (帝国), although that is often inferred from the "Dai-Nippon" of the pre-war era.

Top one is Saiyūki 西遊記, or Journey to the West. I think there was a TV program based on it called Monkey King (or sometimes just Monkey).
Bottom one might be a character from that story.

From a coin from estate sale. was hoping one was a date indicator

The second one is indeed another name of a character 沙悟浄 Sa Gojō/Sha Wujing, as Majestic-san presumed. It would be just a medal, not a coin.
