Hi!

I'm a newly graduated high school student from Europe.

Just one or two questions for anyone who is sitting on some information about the monbukagakusho scholarship. (Undergraduate). Any information would be immensely appreciated.

x Can you apply for the scholarship whilst in Japan? (I will live there while I'm gonna wanna apply)

x Is the first university preparatory year mandatory? What if my language skills are good enough e.g?

x Is the normal way of applying through your country's embassy? This question is connected to the first one.

Super happy for any response!
Thank you,
M

x Yes. Every year a large number of students are enrolled by embassy recommendation . Each half of the contingent undergoes a 1-year preparatory program at either Osaka University Center for Japanese language and culture or Tokyo University of Foreign Studies before entering a 4-year undergraduate program at one of 87 Japanese national universities.

x Not for sure on this question; thought I highly suggest taking the preparatory program.

x Yes.

( Most of your questions are answered in the first answer. )
