i am looking for a translator that can translate Japanese --> English
for anime series ofcourse

the only things you need is
1. japanese --> english translating skills
2. notepad or word or any other text editing tools

the only thing u need to do is translate the dialogues, music and everything textual... and put it in a text file or use Substation Alpha (we'll learn you if you dont know how to use it!) and we'll do the rest :)

i hope there are people that can help me
if you can please reply to this post.

thank you!

hey, i love tenjou!.. who did you translate for?

i want the animestation ones.. i can't really tell any difference between the subbing of the different groups, but animestations videoquality seems to be the best...

I don't think its possible to look for a translator. fan subs are usually dont by people who speak japanese - english in the first place and others who do have this skill dont have the time or the inclination to fansub.

not that I want to piss on your fireworks however I seriously doubt that you'll find someone... I work for a company that localises computer games, our translators charge a small fortune.

yeah, that would make sense...
I used to work as an english-danish, english-swedish translator and it was among the most boring things I have ever done...

Is that all? It sounds like a walk in the park.

I did it for a group of my friends, basically I'd grab fresh anime, translate it 3x (music, then rough dialogue, then smooth it out). Never hit the net, it was just so that we got a sub to watch nice a quick.

Its not easy, or particually exciting. I should offer myself as a translator but around here theres alot of better qualified native Japanese speakers.

well i found 3-4 that could do it and if they contact me on msn they certainly will .. as im the kind of guy that would give donations to translators as they are hard to find :)

however it may seem to be an annoying job ... but your doing something good for people that cant read japanese :)

look at Naruto more than 100000 people downloading every episode on the internet... but would it ever come out in Europe?
because even if it will be licensed... it will take years before u see every episode of it (look at dragonballz) .

and fansubs can be anything.. but im talking about japanese - english ... and not about english to french or something like that ;)
things u will get if you do it

1. alot of appreciation by alot of people
2. i will make sure that a part of the donations will become yours... because this is like the annoying and hardest part of fansubbing
3. you'll get access to FTP(s) with anime on them
4. and ofcourse your name on the site, credits
5. admin access to IRC Channel

ofcourse the only thing u should do is translating the episodes... i think 1 per week or on highest 3 (but i seriously doubt that) most of the time 1 or 2 ... !
u get like 2 days for the translation (ofcourse it will be different when you have appointments or anything like sickness ... we wont let you sub it if your sick ... im not some kind of monster 👍 )

most of the time the episodes are 18-20 minutes long... since u only have to do the intro and ending once!

i still hope some people want to do it even if it sounds hard to them... because thanks to fansubbing alot of people became fans of Anime (i'm one of them) and thats why alot of anime is being transported to USA these days.
because companies like ADV and Geneon look on the internet for Anime Series that are very popular (Fullmetal Alchemist = FUNimation)
so they can license them :p

hope you know a bit more now... b/c there are alot of people that will help me... someone even told me it would took 2 months to find atleast 1 translator... and i already have 4 that could do it :)

Dude. One think I've found out is don't count your translators till your first sub is out. Good luck though, you may well need it.

I'm interested to know about professional anime subbers/translators. I'd do that as a job! :D
