Hello im just wondering about my topic? Its a bit confusing to me whats the pro's and con's? of both countries? compared to each other?🙂😄

Japan is a homogenous society for the most part whereas the U.S. is the proverbial "melting pot." Japan has a pretty linear culture that dates back thousands of years and if you can appreciate tradition and custom, Japan's history offers a myriad of possibilities to explore. Here in the U.S. on the other hand... our own country's history is relatively short but the diverse makeup of our population offers some interesting cultural amenities that can only be found here. That's just one aspect of course (and maybe an oversimplification) but once I get back from work later tonight (lunch break atm) I will expand a bit more. 8-p
:)

Hard to say,I have never been to japan, but in the U.S you can't walk down the street with out finding some sign of another culture. The U.S. might be a proverbial "melting pot" but im proud of that.

in the big cities yes but not in the more rural towns like where i live now

Question though. This applies to the topic in a manner. Why does it seem that Japan has so many 'perverts'. In the US, they don't seem as comon, but whenever people mention Japan's more risque anime, it seem people tend to think Japan is a nation of Perverts. My thought is that Japan has become comfortable with the sexual aspect of life, and even put humor into it sometimes?

This is true. And certainly a very debated topic..Japanese lack a Christian background, which is good in some eyes and bad in the others. Also, it seems that many married Japanese men are sexually deprived because of the unsaid custom of not being very intimate after marriage and having kids. Can you picture what would happen if American couples stopped having sex after kids?

Join your local police dept. ....

you'll see more weird people then you can ever imagine, even in small towns.I only worked the streets for a year as a cop, but saw more perverts in the good ol US of A then I ever thought possible. I guess we are good at hiding it behind closed doors. You remember the scene in "Vacation" where the daughter says she learned to French kiss from her father. Boy, does stuff like that happen more then we know!! And don't forget all the "playful" priests. It goes on and on. I quit the force after a year, figured I'd be nuts if I delt with that for 20 years! We should appreciate our police force for what they see everyday and have nightmares about at night !!

Thanks. I read it in a book once ("Japan's Cultural Code Words") and wasn't sure. The fact that not having a Christian background to me is good, since..well, I'm not Christian. But the fact that they settle down after marriage and kids almost surprises me. Then again, I suppose life in Japan isn't a slow one with breaks.

I gotta agree with Frank on this one. Behind closed doors, Japan is no more a nation of perverts than the U.S. (or any other country for that matter) is imho...
:)

the living is more cramped also
they have more space efficent designs
you take out your bed every night and put it away every morning
take off your shoes when entering a house (i already do that)
and your more likely to use mass transit rather that personal
transportation devices

oh yes, here it is. Another thing. It seems the US adolescent population tends to continue listening to CD players whenever they go places and such. I've always wondered if Japan was like that, whether it be CD or MP3 players. I bought all of my MP3 players from a Korean company.

Japan is just really romanticize, you could say. Everything in their entertainment is to the extreme: love stories, heroes, fan-service. It may not seem like perverts aren't common in US, but US is VERY perverted. And if you actually look at crime rates between Japan and USA, there are more sexual assaults and rapes in the US. The Japanese may write or turn those perverted topics into stories (but I feel like writing about perverted stuff keeps them from actually doing it. Idk, That's just a thought, not fact.) But I would look up crime rates on google. Now, I'm not saying Japan isn't perverted. There are perverts everywhere. I'm just saying thatcomparing the crime rate between the two, US has more pervert problems.

Did you get an exhumation order from a judge prior to digging up this topic that died eight years ago?
