I'm traveling to Japan in a few months and want to learn some basics. I have made flash cards that have a variety of words, phrases, and ideas that I wish to learn. If any of my translations sound funny, or are just wrong, please let me know. Thanks.

Too many errors to correct one by one, I'm afraid.
First of all, you need to differentiate between long vowel and short vowel. Kyō/Kyou, Kinō/kinou and jū/juu have completely different pronunciations from kyo, kino and ju, respectively. Also, you'd better learn about the conjugation of i-adjectives. The negative of "mijikai" is "mijikaku arimasen", not "mijikai de wa arimasen", for instance.

How often do you use 'does this dog like candy?' in day to day life where you live?

There are a few mistakes, to me it seems like you're reading from a phrase book, and you should concentrate on audio more to get the pronunciation correct, although that's not something we can check here, so you could be getting it spot on for all I know.

If you are going to be travelling I'd suggest:
If you haven't already, learn katakana (you can sound out many English-derived words).
Learn basic restaurant/shop talk - greetings, please/thank you/pleasantries, things like "(one, two, three) of (this/that) please" etc. (When I travel I always try to learn "this/that, please", which is the easiest way to smooth things over when you're not sure what that tasty-looking thing is exactly, or can't pronounce it).
If you have any allergies/special requirements learn some set phrases to explain those, and make up a crib sheet for ingredients to avoid so you can check packaging.
Get a decent phrase-book for tourists.
