Anyone visited? Or lived there? I know the basics on it, but there isn't too much out there on the prefecture. I'm visiting in August, so I'd like to go in with some knowledge, other than suizenji-garden, kumamoto-jo, and the local delicacies. That's all I cnafind on it so far.
Thanks in advance~!

I was in Kumamoto in April and it is a nice little city. It has its own castle (I didn't go there, but I've seen pictures of it). I stayed at a ryokan. Kumamoto is also a gateway to Mt. Aso Volcano National Park, which was the purpose of my stay there.

When you visit suizenji-garden be sure to visit the dango shop. Unfortunately i dont remember the name but when if you are facing the entrance of the garden its on the right side near the entrance. It's dango wrapped around sweet potato and azuki beans. Good stuff.
