Hiya!

I just read about a Japanese satellite TV-station called JSTV, and would like to know more....does anyone have it? I believe you have to invest in quite a big satellite dish and pay a fee every month to see the channel...

Can anyone recommend the channel? Is it worth it, and are there any good programmes on it?

I have it, although I don't subscribe as it's something like 100GBP to start up and then a further 30 a month after that. Considering half the programmes (News/Current Affairs etc) are uncrypted it seems an awful lot. If you want the entertainment stuff you'll have to fork out though.

You need a dish pointed at the Hotbird satelite, although I'm a bit limited on the technical side. My dish is a bit bigger than a Sky one, although it's by no means massive.

Hm, does not seem like it is worth it. I wonder why we have every other ethnic channel except a Japanese or Chinese channel?

First of all, thanks for the answer..30ツ」 a month and 100ツ」 subscription is a lot for watching programmes on JSTV.

Good point! I hope someday in the future, we can choose our channel through internet or something, and only get the channels we want to see through TV. In that way, the channel-packages in every household would not be the same...and we can watch national tv-stations all throughout the world---we only have to choose them through some gadget in the TV or computer or something....

Well, gotta go...I think I am babbling and dreaming too much about future stuff!

Hopefully, as they do already have a sort of computer TV service but don't know about channel/network availabilities.
