I was actually coding a wadokei (ancient Japanese clock) simulation, and I am not sure if what I'm doing is correct.
This is what I have done:

- Daytime hours get shorter when nearing winter time, else getting shorter at summer time.
- When the date falls into an equinox, all hours have the same length.
- When at the solstices, the longest wadokei hour possible has a length of about 21/2 Western hours.
