Nope. Im 15 and going to Tokyo in October for work experience.

How are you doing that!?!?! :? I would love more information on how to go to tokyo for work experience....and because its tokyo!

Im working at JUN racing, tuning section. Dammit I hope I dont get raped, thanks for that nice thought Twisted!
I dont see it as brave, I just see England as boring.
After my education is over (hopefully an Engineering degree) I will be moving over there for a while.
Esca - To cut a long story short, I emailed aload of places and ONE accepted my plea for work experience.
Then my dad agreed to help (pay for the trip) ,Yay.

omg

I would have killed to go to japan when I was 15.

I grew up in cornwall, here in the UK. You can imagine how hard it is to learn japanese in such a rural place.

It took me about 7 more years till I could afford it / arrange it.

Yea, its a big oppotunity. Im trying to learn basic Japanese myself, its real hard, but its best to know a bit I suppose.
My family is from Cornwall, dadako. Nice quite place, if you like that kinda thing.

Why not ? It would be a most pleasant experience, no ? The only problem is that when you get into the "Japanese Doll Loving" system, you can't get out of it. It's like a drug. You'll have to get your Engeneer's degree in Japan. You are condemned to stay for ever. And die exhausted... but sooooooooo happy !

Yes : MATE : Friend, partner, buddy, workmate, classmate, whatevermate.
Yes It's english. There is no such thing as american language, just eventually an american distortion of english. But wait until you meet an Australian (Aussie for more familiar). That will throw you right back on your seat... 😌 :D 😌 :)

Here's the Merriam-Webster definition of "to mate":

Main Entry: mate
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): matツキed; matツキing
transitive senses
1 archaic : EQUAL, MATCH
2 : to join or fit together : COUPLE
3 a : to join together as mates b : to provide a mate for
intransitive senses
1 : to become mated <gears that mate well>
2 : COPULATE

So, two mates are a couple, and mating means copulating :D

Main Entry: copツキuツキlate
Pronunciation: 'kテ、-py&-"lAt
Function: intransitive verb
Inflected Form(s): -latツキed; -latツキing
Etymology: Latin copulatus, past participle of copulare to join, from copula
: to engage in sexual intercourse
- copツキuツキlaツキtion /"kテ、-py&-'lA-sh&n/ noun
- copツキuツキlaツキtoツキry /'kテ、-py&-l&-"tOr-E, -"tor-/ adjective

Encyclopedia Britannica doesn't give a definition of "to mate", but it says this:
inbreeding
Britannica Concise
Mating of closely related individuals.

So, apparently the use in British English is the same :D

Another time, try the noun instead of the verb, Lina.
From Merriam-Webster:
Main Entry: 3mate
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, probably from Middle Low German mAt; akin to Old English gemetta guest at one's table, mete food -- more at MEAT
(3) chiefly British : FRIEND, BUDDY -- often used as a familiar form of address b archaic : MATCH, PEER

As you can see, that is the meaning of the word (or at least one of the meanings ) in proper english.
