For a while now my friends and I have been sword fighting (myself being the only girl:eek: ). Well we haven't sword fought (with wooden practice swords of course) in a while. We don't have a teacher or any type of "technique." We use our own fighting style, and I guess it's a pretty barbaric and incompedent way of fighting, but we have fun :p

It took me a while for the guys to actually hit me hard :cautious: but I did it! 😌 I fought once with my friend, but fist fighting :box: don't ask me why:eek: He was scared at first cuz he thought he was going to hurt me, but then we started getting rough and we both came home with bruises from punching and kicking eachother :auch:

Well I hadn't fought with my katana, for almost half a year! I really had to train:angryfire I had been reading from a strategy book, by one of my favorite Japanese heros...Miyamoto Musashi!😍 It helped so much, I was never really strong with the sword, but today I kicked ***!😏 Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything!!!🙂

I got more hits than my oponnent. (He was a hand hitter! I hate hand hitters) :rolleyes:My whole right hand is bruised up on my knuckles and joints😭 and I have bruises all over my legs and arms. I felt bad though, I was making him slightly bleed on his right arm:( He had to wear an ice pack :giggle: I hit him more times, he's all bruised up too, but we both exchanged good moves. We have a "no hitting neck up, and groin area (for guys) policy" that we both broke:p I smacked him in the jaw  and he hit my neck (that was a good move!) even though they were mistakes😌 I think I did well👍 Atleast I did'nt break a nail, lol!

wow, u sound like one........ interesting little girl. well i cant say little cuz u are older than me, but i am sure i am bigger than you. did u beat any of the guys at punching and kicking?

uhh...well..my technique is sorta self-taught, except using moves from games and anime. I mean, who's gonna teach me how to use a staff? Plus, all my wooden weapons are built around my technique, not the other way around. I can beat a kid up with bare hands if has a stick, but when I get that stick from him, he runs :D
(and these kids are all my age, just that the only fighting they can do is a punch)

that's great , kick their butts! :D
I don't sword fight but when I started boxing none of my friends
( all guys ) would fight me even though I did better than them in class.
They all said that if they boxed me that I'd get really hurt and they didn't want that to happen , I still say they were scared. The first time they wouldn't even try I had to hit one of them square it the mouth like twice before they would even began to fight back ; even when they did they were trying to miss on purpose! That's okay cause after a while went by and I still didn't let up on my hard hits :box: they began hitting me back , weak though .

Well I guess it is nice that they felt so bad about hitting me when I was smaller than them.

Hope you do well with your sword fighting Gookan !!! 🙂

Ok you all are crazy lol.. jeez.. It might be wise that you get training gear so you DON'T get "bruised up on.. knuckles and joints." That's what they're made for..

If you're looking to train with a staff, then you'd want to find a [good] Shaolin school. I've seen students from that art make good use of a staff. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use your own technique when using it for a while, but work with it long enough and you can tweak it to your liking as I've seen other people do.

wow you seem like the girl for me
its like you qualify in every catagory

uh lets see...relating to the topic,
i myself made a wooden sword and broke it a week later
but it dealt dammage.
broke a 2X4 with it
its only about 40in X 1in X 1/2in with a 13 degree curve
oh well there's my two cents
and keep training 👍 👏

A good Kendo Master is ....

something to see. One night in the bar I worked in 3 tough American military guys refused to pay their bill. They all pulled fancy switch-blades.
The master of the bar took his wooden sword out, which caused the 3 guys to laugh; the Master only being 4' 11. About 10 seconds later they were on the floor in pain reaching for the money they owed. Everyone stood open mouthed and in awe !!

dont really fit in the Anime & Manga forum....

any way, i know what you mean, me and my buddy send some pretty big blows at each other when we fight. we once hit eachothers hands and broke'em(ouch!).

Ya it's a lot of fun! ^_^ and I can't really afford to by protection, except maybe some gloves. I don't mind getting hurt, I'm gonna fight again on friday, My brusies will mostly heal by then. I wanted to take Kendo at this dojo a 1/2 from my house, but It's expensive to buy the armor ($500!).

I have my own wooden Waki Sashi. I found a curved stick in my backyard, got the steel file out, and grinded for 15 hours until it was perfect. Worth every minute too.

I also do Bokkenjutsu^^ (Fighting with wooden sword) Amazing how many people are interested in swordfighting... Anyone doing Iaido?

I did some Iaido, got the swords for it, as well as a kendo uniform, shinai and bokken. Dont have any armour tho, i left due to boredom (3 people is not fun) and took up Shorinji kempo, a self defence based martial art. ALOT of fun, get into to it if you get the chance.

I'd really love too learn Kendo and Iaido but there aren't any places near me that teach it as far as I know.

Iaido is the art of drawing the sword isn't it?

Porl''

I would like to do kendo, I just don't have the $ for it (T_T) That's why I practice on my own, and tommorw I'm going to fight a new person, he's supposably a hard hitter and very difficult to beat >_<() I hope I do well ^o^ 窶堋ェ窶堙ア窶堙寂?堙ィ窶堙懌?堋キツ!

Sounds like your just playing ;) get some shinai's and some gloves at least or else your likely to hurt someone.

Iaido is called the art of drawing the sword, but its more of a cerimony, like the formalities involved when you meet another warrior, removing the sword when greeting a supior and bowing, and taking the sword and attacking, while kendo is general sword fighting.

That's rich. It's a killing art. A very fast killing art. Not much killing done these days is all.

Hmm, thats funny, pc wont show the text sacred blue wrote, but all other japanese stuff is ok :S

Yeah, Ieido is a killing art but its not used like that anymore for obvious reasons. If you ever see the movie (ratoichi? i forget) about the blind swordfighter, what he does is basically ieido. But i like to look at the beauty of it, and the history behind it, not the 'ooo, its a killing art, a fast killing art' etc.

Same here, I think as sword fighting as another art, just like painting, and tea ceremony ^o^ and yes I've heard of the blind samurai guy, my friend told me about him a couple months back ^_^()
