I can't seem to figure out how to get typed Japanese characters to show up on websites. Instead, they all come up as squares or symbols. I tried downloading an encoding program but it makes no sense. Maybe I'm just new to this sort of thing. I'd really appreciate any help you guys could give me. Thank you! :)

if you use windows, do an internet search for "Windows Asian Language Support," and you should get instructions for turning those little boxes into readable characters.

which requires the windows CD, sadly, most people have lost that CD or bought their computer from a company like Dell who only distributes the windows disks to random customers.

Computers with pre-installed copies of windows usually have the system files on the hard disk, so they are not asked for during such operations. If someone has lost their copy of windows, they should just go pirate another one; only a fool would "lose" a $100-300 program.

are you making a website? or just posting messages to a site?

if your making a website what program are you using to build it
dreamweaver or other wysiwyg or a text editor?
