最近若い人たちの就職が難しくなっています

Perhaps I have not learned it. But what's the point of adding く to 難し? Would it not be the same without?

It's not 難し + く, it's an adverbial form of 難しい. For example to say "run fast", you say 速く走る not 速い走る

If you want to say "becomes (adjective)" with an adjective you use the adverbial form. It is simply formed by replacing い with く:
難しくなる
赤くなる
遅くなる
(etc)

With na-adjectives you use に to do the same thing (no な):
静かになる

難しい is the normal way to write "muzukashii". 難しく is the normal way to write "muzukashiku".

Have you learned about okurigana yet?

Thanks for the replies. I just didn't know that was the way to make the adverbial form. Thanks

Then what did you think the くwas?

Edit;

Nevermind, I thought it was the し that threw you at first.
