How to convince my browser to show Kana/Kanji

Help!

Since I don't know where to properly post this question, I decided on the general forum:

Everytime I open a site that has either Kana or Kanji in it, my browser (Internet Explorer 6) suggests to install the Japanese language package. Dutyfully, I press the button 'Install' but nothing changes. I still see only some weird characters.

Does anyone know, what I can do about that?

What browser are you using? If Internet Explorer, install and restart your computer and it should work.

AOL never worked for me for some reason.
