How much should I pay for:

2 X 256MB PC133 DIMM DDRAM
Athlon XP AMD 1800+ Retail
52X IDE CDROM
HP cd-writer 9300 series
Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM ATA 133 IDE Hard Disk
GeF4 MX420 64 MB DDR (TV-OUT)
ATX MID TOWER (300 WATTS)
ECS K7S5A 2DDR 2SDR 5P 4xAGP Aud + Lan XP
Panasonic 1.44MB Floppy

NEW OR USED ???

Sounds like an older set-up. My PC is made up of very similer parts. New would be around $750 before rebates and around $400US dollars after rebates. Used would be around $275 give or take a little. The ram is starting to get pretty out dated and the CPU is slow by todays standards. Most new systems have a DVD recorder now. If you can get Windows XP Professional it's better for Japanese writing.
If your're good with your hands and a screw-driver you can up-date the system you have. Everything will only go in one way and the only danger is static electricty. Things like a hard drive only have 4 screws to dub with. The 2 plugs on the back only can go one way. I've built 3 PC's and I'm no rocket scientist. You can save a lot of money doing your own!
I'd recomend putting your money into something newer then what you decribed if you can. Good luck !!

yeah the harddrive is good but everything else is kinda eeh. $200-250 used. even then you could get a much better set up for that money. ill give you some specs on my new system and how much i paid for ish.

Athlon XP AMD 2400+ and Gigabyte K7 Trinitron motherboard - $141
PC3200 DDR400 256mhz ram - $37
Quantum Fireball 30gb @ 7200rpm - $32
some old nameless case with 350w power supply - $10 though a good case would be only like $30 complete with lava fans and all that fun stuff.

i pilfered my video card, cdburner, floppy drive, keyboard, monitor and mouse from my old system.

taking the money you would be spending on that system and going to an expo would prolly be a better bet.
