For those who own commercial businesses, how do you control the cost and environmental impact associated with your waste stream? What are your strategies to reduce environmental impact and costs while assuring compliance?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

I recycle my trash, is that what you're referring to?

This bought back bad memories. The company I worked for back in 1975 ran an secret connection into the city sewer system to dump their dangerous liquid waste. The company also generated solid waste which they dumped on the banks of the nearby river and covered with leaves to hide it. Out of the 50 employees , about 35 died of some type of cancer. It was all done to save money from doing things the right way. They also used asbestos products well after they were banned. I'm sure many companies still do the same thing today.

All this proves the point that we need to get rid of pesky regulations in the U.S. Especially those related to clean air and water. A thriving economy is more important.

We have a provider for our waste management. You can look for a company that can customize their solutions based on your requirements.

Are you serious?!?! I thought those things only happen in the movies? Please tell me you are making this up or that you are writing the beginnings of a novel.

Yes, that is what I am looking for actually. I've encountered this problem several times in my 15 years of working with sports apparel companies. Until now, I still have difficulty determining one company that can help with this issue. I've researched a lot of companies in the past, in particular companies software for comprehensive waste reduction - but it is a tricky process. Anyone who can point me in the direction or an easy way forward? lol

This doesn't surprise me at all, especially in that timeframe. Our corporations were such good stewards of the environment that the government had to create a whole new bureaucracy in 1970 called the Environmental Protection Agency.

You have to consider Maine was rather backward in the 70's . The company also kept 2 sets of books for tax reasons to hide true income. The good news is they went bankrupt in the end from all their stupid practices.
