Please read this post; Female Cat suspected of mutilating 88-yr old lady's toes which was placed in the wrong place.
Saitama -- On Oct. 6, just three weeks ago, the most bizarre thing happened when an 88-yr-old senile lady was found in her bed in a Saitama facility for the elderly with all her toes on her right foot gone. The toes that were gone up to the first joints were not recovered, the police said, and parts of her bones were missing.
The suspect female cat, discovered with bloody paws and mouth, was arrested and is being held by the Kasukabe Branch, Saitama Prefectural Animal Guidance Center. As a stray, she would have been put to sleep, but the execution has been stayed at the request of Saitama police and Shizue Noda, an animal rights activist with a group called Animal Support Mate.

well, homicidal implies intent to deprive another of life... I daresay the cat was looking for an easy meal, if it indeed was the culprit. I'm more interested in the conditions that let some stray animal into her room and take the time to chew off her toes, which according to the authorities would have taken a long time.

That's plain weird... Why did she not shout out in pain, and if she did, why did no-one hear her? :? It ought to be the staff at that "facility for the elderly" who get investigated, not the cat!
