I came across this recently (although it does appear to be a bit dated). The letter was written by a retired Special Forces Master Sergeant who also happens to be the father of an active-duty soldier stationed in Iraq. The author provides an interesting commentary I think based on his own personal experiences (regardless of one's political ideology) so I thought I would pass it along... It's well worth taking the time to read all the way through btw. The letter in its entirety can be found here:

FYI: It should be noted that some of the language is blunt and to the point...
:)

Couldn't think of anything to add !!!

Being in the Navy during "THE NAM" has left scars that are still to sore to pick at. The man's letter gets an AMEN from me! It would be nice to see replys, but probably arguments would be forthcoming.
Thanks IC !

Thnx for the reply Frank. Yeah, I thought the author did a good job of cutting through all the BS to get right to the point although it's probably something a lot of people don't want to think about.
