Story:

Too much of IT may end your love affair

Shinji Miyadai, a sociologist specializing in youth issues, believes that such high-tech conundrums are due to the fluid and ambiguous nature of relationships among young people today. It's a situation, he says, that can lead to extreme meddling in one's partner's life.

"Normally what results from this behavior is an anxiety over one's privacy, namely the right to conceal what one wants to conceal and one's right to control information about oneself. In Japanese society, that's an idea which, for the most part, hasn't taken hold," Miyadai says.

And I thought ICQ was (self-)destructive. :D

"On one occasion, I forgot to call to say that I couldn't make the agreed-upon connection time. So then she gives me this really furious call on my mobile phone, saying, 'What the hell is going on?!' "

Must be some kind of unwritten universal behavior all women in relationships share... 8-p
