I thought it was a British English thing like lorry or boot in place of truck or trunk. My wife's from England and I hadn't heard her use Kristy .

Well, I've actually seen it transcribed as such (カースティー)....so this one should do in a pinch. The thing is to mimic the English "ru" sound as closely as possible without actually having to say it ;).
