Grammar questions! かんこうを します。？？

Hi,
I am a long term student of Japanese. I have studied formally, but not for a long time. Most of my studies now are personal reading, watching J-drama and trial and error.
At the moment I am trying to find a conclusive answer about using かんこう　（観光）in a sentence.
Is it correct to say 観光をします。Or should it be 観光へ行きます。
Please give me your advice.

観光 is not place you can go to. 観光をします is correct. You can also say 観光をしに行きます.
BTW you can check this easily at wwwjdic.org. The entry for 観光 says "(n,vs,adj-no) sightseeing;"
vs tag means it's verb when combined with する.

Both are correct, but the meaning is a bit different. As you would know, する/します and 行く/行きます mean "to do" and "to go", respectively, so those basically refer to "to do sightseeing in a region (e.g., you are already in Tokyo, and are going to do sightseeing in Akihabara)" and "to go there for sightseeing (e.g. you are still in your home town and planning to go to Japan for sightseeing)".
As mdchachi-san mentioned, 観光 is the stem of a -suru verb, so 観光する also can be used.
観光へ行く is not wrong but 観光に行く is more common. に indicates the purpose to go there in this case, not the location to go, as same as 買い物に行く.
e.g.
東京を観光する
東京の観光をする
東京観光をする
東京に(or へ)観光に行く/観光しに行く/観光をしに行く
東京観光に行く
