Hi Guys,
I'm working on an example sentence using the verb 凍る。
I have two attempts. I was wondering if they are correct. Also in the first sentence I feel I'm using redundant words. So is the second one more precise? (If it is correct in the first place)
水は温が0度に達すると水が凍って氷になる。
水温は0度に達すると凍って氷になる.

よろしくお願いします。

達する connotes "to rise", so it means more likely "to run up to". Thus, there is no problem with 氷は温度が0度に達すると溶ける or 水は温度が100度に達すると沸騰する, but it's not appropriate there. I would use に/まで下がる.
水温 is usually not talking about water's nature in general. It's for the temperature of water of something, e.g., 池の水温.
水が is indeed redundant in the first one.

thanks toritoribesan,
In english we say the water temperature drops to zero as well. Sometimes I read the temperature drops until it reaches freezing point.
It's great to learn the correct way to use words.
I will stick with まで下がる.
水は温度が0度まで下がると水が凍って氷になる.
I thought that the second use of 水 sounded redundant.
thanks for your help.

I said so, no?;)

Incidentally, when it's obvious that the temperature is dropping down from the context, 達する works well.
e.g.
温度が下がり続けて0度に達し、水は凍って氷になった。

Yes I know I'm sorry .... "I thought that the second use of 水 sounded redundant" was a rhetorical question.
