i was doing some research on japan the other day and came across a subject, where it stated that japan has an earthqauke about every 80 years, and by record it stated that the last major one happened 1920's so it said that japan is due one any time soon.

could someone shed some light on this subject of japan and earthquakes?

Japan has earthquakes ALL THE TIME. So does whereever you are, only they are so small you don't notice them. Last year there was a largish one in Sapporo or Sendai I think. In 1993 I think there was a nasty one too.

I think you might be thinking about Tokyo, apparently its about time for its supposedly semi-regular-80-year earthquake.

I did survive the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995, which was the worst earthquake since the Great Kanto earthquake in 1923. Thats kind of close to eighty years i guess, but there are earthquakes all the time in Japan.

I didn't even realize that earthquakes could be predicted. You would think that the people in California would be better off knowing that one is coming.

yeah, the "big one" hit in 1923 Tokyo-Yokohama area.....and I hate earthquakes!!! I was always scared of earthquakes in Japan, even the tiny "shakes"...
I am glad I'm in Denmark, we don't have earthquakes here.
