I have a friend that seems to be researching some items in a Japanese class and he turned to me. I gave him some tips and a few links but he is writing a paper and looking for information. I told him that I would ask around for more and give the other link afterward. Anyway, here is what he sent to me and I'll just post it plain and simple. I thought it would make a good discussion too.
Questions #1:
Compare and contrast time in boot camp to the ethics retreat covered in Disciplined Selves by Kondo. Address the issues of why and how the military and the corporate training sessions were conducted. Include evidence, specifics and examples from one interview with a Japanese person who has worked for a JAPANESE company in regards to Japanese corporate training sessions. Someone who worked for a Japanese company before is the most suggested type of interviewee. YOU MUST do an interview. I will fail the paper if you don't do an interview. Contact me ASAP if you cannot find an interviewee.
b. Question #2
Compare and contrast US preschool/daycare and/or kindergarten with Komatsudani. Address the issues of why and how schools shape the children's selves and culture. Include evidence, specifics and examples from one interview with an AMERICAN parent who has had a child in American preschool/daycare or kindergarten in the last three years. YOU MUST do an interview. I will fail the paper if you don't do an interview. Contact me ASAP if you cannot find an interviewee.
Here are links to the articles he sent me.
Sorry, I misplaced the links and have to find them. I'll have him resend them to me.
