Different types of languages

Hi all, can someone kindly tell me the different types of languages and why there are. I have been interested in the samurai era for some time now and currently doing my flat in a way to depict this and would like to have the correct language writing on my wall.

hi yes im after swords and to put scrolls on the walls plust to have various phrases and words on there.i find the area fascinating i just wish i could also read and understand some of the lanuguage on here.
