Does anyone know a good site I can go to about cosplay? My friend and I decided we might get into it if we knew a bit more about it like if you buy the costumes or do you make them, and if you make them where do you get the paterns? So anyhelp would be appreacieated. Thanks.

I want to cosplay so bad... but I can't afford it. I might be able to cosplay as Yoh from the Shaman King manga... It would be really easy! Just a white button-up long-sleeve shirt that is neither buttoned up or tucked in (and has its sleeves rolled up), and a baggy pair of jeans (also rolled up a little)... add headphones and a bear-claw necklace... I could be Yoh!!

i luv cosplay i live in giant pikachu uniform im known now as "pika",
everyone luvs pika.

im taking the piss.
:D 👍 :D 👍 :D 👍 :D 👍 :D 👍 :D 👍 :D

😊 its up to you if you want to make your own costume or buy it, i suggest making it since its fun and you can call it your own 👍 you can find patterns and material in lots of fabric stores. a very cheap place for fabric would be K MART 😌. have fun cosplaying! :D

Cosplaying...

I prefer making my own costumes, but I can't guarantee that they come out right, I'm just a beginner at costume design. It is fun making your own and it certainly belongs to you! You can be proud of it!

KMart does have a lot of cheap fabric, but because I like to cosplay JRock artists, most of the pleather and dark fabrics and materials I need tend to be scarce in KMart.

So for those kinds of outfits, I buy from the same stores the famous JRock bands such as Dir en Grey, GLAY, Gackt etc buy theirs from. A custom costume design shop like theirs is extremely expensive, but I must say, I look very flashy and professional in those (I'm a Hisashi of GLAY look-alike).

Oh, and darkrikku66, is that Miyavi I spy in your avatar? *drool*
:)

well you can also do what GLAY does to get his fabric, but im poor :( hehe
or if you live close by NY you can get LOTS of pleather and material there 😊 juse be ready to waste some money! :D :D

yesh it is miyavi GLay otaku!! :win: :win:

Cosplaying...

I do what I can to cosplay JRock, but like you darkrikku66, I happen to be a poor teenager. I don't live by New York, or even anywhere near it, I live on the other side of the states, on the west coast of Oregon.

The only way I can get those kinds of materials is if I mail order them off the internet, then it's not the material price that kills me, it's the shipping cost. My friends and family stared at me for an entire day once because I had made Gackt's outfit in his PV "Mizティrable" and worn it around.

Btw darkrikku66, have you seen Miyavi Live @Beauti-Fool's Fest '03? I just bought that and it has inspired me to cosplay as Miyavi and possibly stay that way, lol. 👍

i love that Gackt costume :D :D he looks very sexy , and i bet you did as well 😊
i made a girls kimono (dont know the name :?) lol and i wear it around the house when i wake up lol. it was wierd to my parents and freinds but it was VERY confortable.
:sorry:unfortunalty i havnt seen miyavi live in fest 03  but now that you mention it GLay otaku i might wanna check it out. i wanted to make miyavi's vest from POP IS DEAD video just for fun. its cute and kawaii 🌹

Yes, Gackt looks extremely sexy in that music video and his androgenous good looks allow me to look just as sexy. You made a girl's kimono? A yukata was that called? Yes! I bought one of those at a festival once and it is very comfortable!

Yes, Miyavi's vest in "POP is Dead" is very kawaii and I was thinking of making that a while back. I'm a girl, so I can't pull off JRock guy's hot looks, but I'm Asian, so I can at least get the flow and gist of it.

The last cosplay outfit I wore was the feminine-like outfit Kaoru of Dir en Grey wore for their PV "[KR]cube". I brought mini speakers along with me when I wore that to Sakuracon and I played "[KR]cube" just to give it that awesome effect. 😊
