The delusion speaks for itself.

Benefits of pollution for the Chinese:
1. It unifies the Chinese people.
2. It makes China more equal.
3. It raises citizen awareness of the cost of China's economic development.
4. It makes people funnier.
5. It makes people more knowledgeable (of things like meteorology and the English word haze).

Luckily the people aren't as stupid as the government wishes they were.

1. It unifies the Chinese people.
2. It makes China more equal.

That speaks volumes on the true state of affairs in China. Senkaku and other territorial conflicts might soon be their smallest concern.

Senkaku and other territorial conflicts might soon be their smallest concern.

They already were. None of China's or even Japan's territorial spats make any effective difference to anything, with the exception of the Kuriles and the people who live there or used to. (Not forgetting Tibet, but that is something else than a spat).

The human capacity for delusion seems to be boundless. The Senkakus are not important, they only seem that way. The next delusion might be to blame Japan for Chinese pollution, on the grounds that China imitated Japanese industry or that Japan has factories in China or that Japan encouraged capitalism in China.
