I need to write my friend. I can read simple japanese, but not write it! :D hahaha. I'm stupid. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone can please translate the following letter into informal japanese.. either romaji or hiragana! thanks!

Dear Hiromi-chan,

I am so sorry for not writing! I have been busy with school. It is very hard! I am going to Mexico, and I will send you a postcard while I am there. You are so nice, and I hope that you are not mad at me for taking so long to reply! I am sending you some canadian money, since you told me you like foreign coins. You do, isn't that right?
I really miss talking to you! Please tell me things about you. What is your favourite colour? and also, I want to get you a gift. Please think about something you would like! It's almost winter, so it is very cold! I hope you have a good christmas!

See you later,
Laura

Hi, let me give it a try and I hope you don't mind with my limited Japanese. For those who think I made a mistake, please correct me. Also, please help me to translate some of the part I do not know how to translate.

Thanks

Just the first few sentences....."Henji wo shinade" actually means "please don't respond" :p (should be henji wo shinakute sumimasen deshita) and "sutekina" has a mildly sexual or romantic connotation, so in this case probably "ii" or "shinsetu" is better. I (or someone else) can check the rest later....

whoa, thanks! will bear that in mind!!!

So far, it's this:

henji shinakute sumimasen ne. saikin benkyou de totemo isogashii desu. yappari, totemo taihen desu. mehiko he iku tsumori desu. Itta toki, ehagaki wo okutte agemasu! hiromi chan ha hontou ni shinsetsuna hito desu yo. henji wo omatasete hontou ni gomennasai. okoranai de kudasai. hiromi chan ha gaika wo atsumeru no ga suki dakara, kanada koin wo okutte agemasu.

So far, it's this:

(mae ni?) henji shinakute sumimasen ne. (henji ga osoku natte sumimasenne ? Hisashiburi desu?). saikin benkyou de totemo isogashii desu (or isogashiikatta desu, if you want to use the past tense). yappari, totemo taihen desu (this may sound too extreme, I'm not sure -- maybe just "chotto taihen desu" is better). mehiko he (ni?) iku tsumori (yotei?) desu. Itta toki (wa, niwa?) (or Asoko ni iru aida ni (?), ehagaki wo okutte agemasu (just okurimasu may be better) ! hiromi chan ha hontou ni shinsetsuna hito desu yo (not sure about the yo here). (mata?) henji wo omatasete hontou ni gomennasai (or sumimasen). okoranai de kudasai(ne) (Anger is probably too strong as well for a Japanese person especially -- it's probably better just to leave this out). hiromi chan ha gaika wo atsumeru no ga suki dakara, kanada koin wo(mo?) okutte agemasu ("okuritain desu" may be better).

anata to hanasenakute totemo sabishii desu. [Please tell me things about you. Jibun ni tsuite nanika oshite kudasai ? ] ichiban sukina no (don't need no) iro ha nan desu ka? [I want to get you a gift. Purezento wo okutte agetai to omoimasu.) Please think about something you would like! (Hoshiimono no koto wo kangaete kudasai (it may be too formal -- maybe just hoshiimono wo itte kudasai ?]. mousugu fuyu ni natte/ga kite (?) mou sukoshi samuku natte kimashita ? or fuyu ga hayaku chikazuite iru mou samukunatte fuyurashiku nattekimashita). jya, (tanoshii) kurisumasu wo sugoshite to ii desu ne (maybe sugireba iine is better) !

Hope a native speaker will be well able to handle this mess....StarItako. :)

Most of it is just really a matter of interpretation or preference in the end not really any serious grammatical issues. And I've never tried writing for anyone under 35-40, so I don't think a lot of my suggestions are probably very age-appropriate either ;).
