This sentence was replied to me during a conversation. It is regarding the maker of a specific product. I am learning Japanese so I am not confident with my understanding.

Here is the sentence:
明夫さんに刃物屋さんから特注して作ってもらった物です!

I think it is saying: Akio (person) gave it to the blade shop to produce a custom made product. (a collaboration?)

Can anyone offer additional insight, or is there perhaps something I have missed or misunderstood?

Thank you for your help.

Pay attention to the particles. 明夫さん刃物屋さんから shows that the one who ordered to make the product is the blade shop, and Akio is the one who was asked to make it.

Thank you Toritoribe, for helping clarify my confusion. So Akio was commissioned by the blade shop to make the item.

Right. Akio is a knifesmith or something, and the shop ordered him to make the custom-made product.
