Wow, it's July already. Half a year has gone by....

Now that the sultry summer weather has settled in Tokyo, what should a hard working guy do but spend his evenings (and maybe even his weekends) complaining about work with his co-workers at an outdoor beer garden, sipping ice cold Kirin and scarfing edamame, hiya yakko, etc.

This is a video of a typical beer garden on the roof of a dept. store.

On the other hand, he could go to a more refined beer garden on the grounds
of an upscale hotel complex in Roppongi (life in the big city -
music provided at night by professional jazz groups) and talk about other things.

Yes, great time for beer!

If you happen to visit the Shonan area of Kanagawa, don't forget to drop by Trattoria Mokichi for the fine beers for the local microbrewery!! The food is good, too. 👍

Nothing better, or more refreshing than a beer garden on a hot sultry night, or, as the Japanese weather reports used to refer to them, "tropical nights" (when the temp was at or above 25 C). A dai Jokki always seemed to taste better outside on a rooftop for some reason.

But, then again, there was something to be said for sipping a cold beer while sitting on the floor at the table in ones home while the bottle sweated profusely, the smell of katori senko, and feeling the breeze of the oscillating fan while watching baseball.

Had our first beer garden of the year at a soubetsukai for some of the local JETs. Super humid due to light rain just beforehand, and we were sitting in a plastic tent on a hotel roof with no fans. Still, good times, with a nice view of our country town at night :)
