For those of you missing the autumn season in Japan, there are some websites that allow you to experience kōyō (紅葉) online. One of them is hosted by JR Central:

そうだ 京都、行こう。

Souda Kyoto Ikou is operated by the Central Japan Railway Company and is regularly updated with new images from around 70 locations. The company's employees are out and about in the city, taking high-resolution pictures of the colours and condition of the fall foliage. The historic sites invite you to linger with their Zen gardens, ancient trees and intricately designed tea rooms. In spring and summer, the radiant green is convincing, while in autumn, the bright colours provide variety.

Today, Mainichi featured the autumn foliage at the Tateyama mountain range in central Japan:

The famed fall colours at Eikandō Zenrin-ji temple (永観堂禅林寺) in Kyōto's Sakyo Ward were lit up on 2 November in a test run ahead of a seasonal nighttime viewing event beginning on 5 November.

Byōdō-in in Uji, Kyōto, will offer special nighttime viewing events for the general public. Discontinued in the fall of 2019, it is being held for the first time in three years on the occasion of the 970th anniversary of the temple's founding this year. Unlike previous years, this year's event will be limited to 1,000 people per day, with prior registration required via the website.

Inui-dori (乾通り), a tree-lined thoroughfare stretching about 600 metres north-south at the Imperial palace grounds, was opened to the public on 26 November.

It was last open to the public in 2019, before the novel coronavirus pandemic hit. Rain did not stop a crowd of visitors from enjoying the changing colors and taking photos. The event will continue until Dec. 4. The street is open between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with the final exit at 3:30 p.m. Visitors were required to have their temperatures checked before entering the grounds and wear face masks as well as disinfect their hands.

Many people come to Maine to see the leaves change color and we call them "leaf peepers". I however am not a great fan , LOL. My lawn , car , and rain gutters get buried in about 3 inches of dead leaves which keep me busy cleaning them up for about a month.
