recently i was talking with a japanese girl from kagoshima, living and working in LA. we got to know each other through a pen pal bbs, and we started talking on the phone. she was 26, a fashion designer, and very cool. we had many interesting discussions, then eventually started talking on the phone. over time, the subject of sex came up, and she was suprised to learn that the age of consent in the united states was 18. when i asked what the age was in japan, she said there wasnt one. whoa! what, i was almost positive it was 13 or 14, but none at all? what do you guys think about this? it reminds me of a time i picked up a japanese girl in new york city, talked for a bit, exchanged numbers, and when i asked her age, she replied, 16! ouch! needless to say that was the end of our discussion, i explained we could be friends, but anything else was against the law here. she looked dissapointed, like i was lying or something.....man, what a shock, japanese girls generally look younger than their age, so i asumed she was at least 18, my bad :sorry: give me some feedback ppl, would it be impolite of me to ask a girls age in japan?
