The correct answer given is あたらしい えいがを。
But I don't understand why any of the others are wrong.
Can you please explain it to me?
Also, in this context, what is the translation for けんか? A fight?

Thank you. :)

Hello, Marmoset.

That may not be a good question because there can be two
correct answers. I think the second choice
えいがを can be correct.

As you may already know, 見てみる means "try looking/seeing/watching".

Usually we don't use "mitemiru" for what you've already known. But
if you suggest "for the first time in many years" or something, you can

Usually you can't say かぞくを見てみる or けんかを見てみる.

You have to say かぞくとあう, not かぞくを見る.

見てみる is an intended action. So it would be strange to say

けんか means a fight or a quarrel. In your case it means a fight.

Hope it helps.

Do you live in Hokkaido? What are you doing there if I may ask?

Hirashin from Kyoto, Japan.

Going to "see" your family doesn't translate directly as "see"; you would use "meet" (会う) instead. So that choice can't be correct.

All the four choices can be correct in some contexts.

You always lose your fights. So you were going to see how people have a fight with the opponent so that you could learn how to win from it.

You are divorced, and didn't see your ex-husband/ex-wife and children for many years. Yesterday, you happened to go to the city they are living in. You can't meet them by some reason, so you just saw them from a distance... In this context, you can use

When I was in high school, an English teacher asked an exchange student from Australia to choose the correct answer of a fill-in-the-blank question "Choose the correct preposition from the given answers" in an English class. She had a glance at the four prepositions given and said, "All correct".
I've recalled this event from your question...

Anyway, the most common one is あたらしい えいがを in this case. That's why the textbook says it's the correct answer, as same as the case of

Thank you all for your responses. I apologize for my delayed reply.

@hirashin. Yes, I live in Hokkaido. This is my second year as an ALT. :)
