ah! I am very sorry! I'm doing a survey for a project in my japanese language class. The topic is about 'manekineko'(good luck cats)
1. can you see manekineko everywhere in japan?
2. There are many different types of manekineko, what is most popular? (do you like most?)
3. Do you have any? How many? (4.) why?
Is this a native to Japan phenomenon? Because it looks very similar to the "Hello Kitty" good luck mascot, but I've seen very similar porcelain figurines around Chinese restaurant counters as well with inscriptions such as "good luck and wealth (12,000 of an ancient unit of currency)" in place of "mane(ki)neko" or "/shou?/mane?fuku." It's just harder to imagine a cute culture taking root there in quite the same way.
