I found the Koop and Inada name dictionary on a car boot but "meiji/銘字" on the cover isn't in my word tank dictionary. can someone give me a gloss on it please?
銘字 usually means "inscription", "engraved/inscribed letter(s)". Google search results say that that's a handbook of Japanese proper names (both geographical and personal name) and how to read them, especially for art-collectors and students.
