I'm reading a fantasy book and I've come across this sentence:
"あのような太刀をよろこんで買うほうが、よほど人から軽んぜられるだろうに"
Is this along the lines of:
Happily buying swords like that will get you looked down upon by people after all.
If so, what is ほうが doing here? Isn't it along the lines of 'rather than'? Because I can't make that fit with the second part of the sentence.
