Tateyama Junmai Daiginjō Amaharashi (純米大吟醸立山雨晴)

Tateyama Junmai Daiginjō Amaharashi (純米大吟醸立山雨晴) is a limited edition of Tateyama Brewery, 90% of whose products are consumed in Toyama Prefecture. It is made of Yamadanishiki rice milled down to 37% and the clear water of the Shogawa River. It has a good balance of aroma and flavour, deep umami with an elegant and refined taste and a crisp finish. This sake is the pinnacle of the Ginrei Tateyama (銀嶺立山) series.

The sake is named after the Ameharashi Coast (雨晴海岸) located in Takaoka City in western Toyama Prefecture, at the foot of the Toyama side of the Noto Peninsula. According to legend, Minamoto no Yoshitsune and his retainers took shelter from the rain in Ameharashi in what used to be Etchu Province.

The Amaharashi Junmai Daiginjo is the top brew of Tateyama's junmai line. The variations of sake rice used in producing this outstanding brew vary, and the brewery describes the varieties for each lot on their website. Our lot was made on 20 July 2021 from Yamadanishiki rice milled down to 37%! It has a remarkably fruity and sweet nose with refreshing notes. Good balance of umami and sweetness, crisp finish. Almost impossible not to finish in one sitting.
