Ōsawa Sake Brewery is located in Saku, Nagano Prefecture, in Motai-shuku (茂田井宿), a former postal station along the Nakasendō Highway between Mochizuki-shuku (望月宿) and Ashida-shuku (芦田宿). The Ōsawa family had been village mayors of Motai for generations and started brewing sake in 1689. The brewery has the Shinano Forest Museum (しなの山林美術館) which exhibits paintings by Ōsawa Kunio (大澤邦雄) and Kōzu Kōjin (神津 港人), the Folklore Museum (民俗資料館) exhibiting armour and other items received from the Komoro clan, and the Shodōkan (書道館). One of the brewery's sake brands, Zenkōji Hizōshu (善光寺秘蔵酒), was named after the station that provided accommodation to the head priest of Zenkōji.
