Asahi Brewery is located in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. It was founded in 1830 by Hirasawa Kozaburo (平沢興三郎) under the name Kubotaya (久保田屋). The brewery was incorporated in 1920 as Asahi Sake Brewing Company (朝日酒造株式). Their most famous brand is Kubota (久保田), first released in 1985. Other brands are Esshū (越州), and Asahiyama (朝日山) as well as several seasonal sake.

Gentle, full-bodied taste, slightly tart. Very palatable with a moderate level of spiciness. Goes well with savoury dishes. It is recommended either lukewarm or hot or chilled to 13 to 16 °C. Great table sake.
