My car and my bike are already on their long way back home, so I can only reach my last destinations in Japan by public transportation. Yesterday, I visited a beautiful place in eastern Osaka Prefecture, Hoshi no Buranko (星のブランコ) suspension bridge in Hoshida Prefectural Park.
It is one of the most beautiful spots around Osaka to watch autumn leaves. "Hoshi no buranko" means as much as "star swinging bridge".
Hoshida Prefectural Park is located in Katano City, Osaka Prefecture and is close to Ikoma City in Nara Prefecture. The bridge, one of the largest pedestrian suspension bridges in Japan, the seventh-largest, in fact) is 280 meters long and about 50 meters high.
The observation deck (below) that can be reached from Yamabiko Square offers a terrific panoramic view of the suspension bridge and the cities of Osaka and Kyoto on the far horizon.
Hoshi no Buranko is a 30-minute walk from Kisaichi Station (私市駅) on the Keihan Katano Line (京阪交野線). Kisaichi Station can be reached from Nishi-Umeda Station in a little over 50 minutes.
Admission: free
Opening hours: daily 09:30-16:30; closed on Tuesdays. Open daily in April, May, October, and November.
