It's amazing how little control one has over one's life.
From the little things, such as what you buy at a store, based on availability, to more important things, such as one's job.
I remember several years ago I found myself in the awkward position of facing the reality of unemployment in a foreign country. That was certainly not my choice, but events conspired to rob me of my job at the time, and I had no choice but to adapt to my circumstances.
Today I woke up to find myself in a horrible mood, one which once again did not come about by any choice of my own. Today's mood is nowhere as important to my general well-being as my job was (is), but it got me to thinking about life and how much we influence our own lives and how much outside forces influence our lives.
It's an old, tired topic I suppose, but nonetheless one which I find interesting.
I'll be writing more about this in the future, but for now, I will take an active part in my own life and decide to go to bed early tonight. Hopefully tomorrow will find me in better spirits.
