Ōwakudani Ropeway

Ropeway over Active Sulfur Vents

owakudani.jpg

Ōwakudani is a volcanic valley near Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, having active sulfur vents and hot springs. It was formed roughly 3,000 years ago due to the Hakone volcano's eruption. The picturesque scenery and volcanic activity make it a popular tourist destination. The lonely terrain has been blanketed in white smoke, and the strength of volcanic activity can still be felt.
