I'd like to get hold of a copy of NHK News 9 on 20th September to put onto a Facebook page. To be precise it's a five
minute report they did about the Extinction Rebellion events around the world (which included 16 venues in Japan).
I've checked out YouTube and all the other news programs of that day (おはよ日本 and News 7) except for News 9
are there.

I have recorded it on video and suppose I could borrow Mrs Lother's smartphone, record the screen and put it on Facebook
but an online link is what I'd really like. Any ideas?

By the way I attended the rally in Tokyo, whose attendance was apparently in the high 2000s, and there is an XR Japan page on
Facebook for those interested in getting involved.

It's probably a long shot, but have you tried contacting NHK News directly?

I admit I had to look ER up, but I'm full of admiration for their aims and actions. If it's not asking too much please do keep us updated on their events in Japan.

Good idea! I've just mailed them directly, though I felt a bit guilty considering the number of times I've slagged NHK 0ff on Japan related forums for their atrocious 'news' programmes. Ooops! There I go again! Will be happy to update the board on climate-related marches. I'll start a new thread when I've got dates, places and times if you'd like.

Never too late to show some repentance. :)

That would be splendid. I'd be glad to promote their events here on JREF.

By the way, NHK replied quickly to my message with an extremely polite 'No'!

Was it a "No, we don't have that video anymore" or a "No sorry, we cannot share it with you due to [... insert legalism ...]"?

Thomas,

Here was the reply.

The first reason seems to be that they don't plan to show it again. The second reason seems to be to do with the rights of the people who made the video. It's one of those problems I have with my level of Japanese, where I can read the individual words but cannot get an overall feel of what they are trying to say. Dubbing? Why dubbing? All I want to do is to put a link on the Extinction Rebellion Japan site! Or maybe the reply is intentionally designed that way?!

Anyway, I replied with a cheeky なんとかお願いできますか? But I'm not hopeful!

Copyright issues, that was to be expected. But chapeau, they replied really fast!
