"use and abuse of ALTs and eikawai teachers".
LOL, seriously. I assume you're trolling.

That's hilarious.
Where else can you get a job paying $30K or more equivalent, with ZERO qualifications other than being able to speak your native language, in a country with one of the cheapest health care systems in the world, low income taxes, safe, with better public transport and internet infrastructure than most of the US.

But you're so 'exploited' that you can't afford to pay Y10,000 a month?

Give me a ******* break.

What a charmer.... (and you're getting thumbs-up for it as well)

You're very naive indeed. You don't seem to know the first thing about eikaiwa or ALT instructor jobs. On average, the pay scales start off more around the $25k mark and don't go much higher than that.

These criminal companies operate as exploitative money rackets, with the government's assent, yet all you're concerned about is moralizing and proselytizing about people working for them not paying "Y10,000 a month" (tax and insurance costs are usually higher than that), and bragging about how hard you think you are for actually sucking it up to the government and paying your dues.

The poor government didn't get "Y10,000 a month". Big ******* deal. If a temporary worker wants to give the government a kiss on the foot of Y10,000 a month, after being used by an exploitative eikaiwa or ALT company, at the government's behest, be my guest.

Japan's schools are colluding to scam the central government, which turns a blind eye, and/or b) Japan's schools are able to pay entry-level English teachers 150,000-170,000 yen a month but can't afford the 10,000 yen (or so) that the health insurance would cost?
Japan's EIKAIWAS certainly do that often, yes indeed! They want to pay as little as possible.

I have no idea if he was hired to do only part-time work, but he was probably answering an ad for full- time work, and the employer did what so many do in order to scam the system for himself. Don't ask ME why he didn't take on more jobs! Ask him!

Nice justification.

I haven't justified any of this. Law-breaking goes on routinely on both sides. I'd prefer it if the government ensured companies followed the law first and foremost, as opposed to just going after employees. They're a convenient and easy target of everyone's ire, as immigrants and foreigners are in general: get everyone focused on a common enemy, and take attention away from other things the government doesn't want you to know or think about.
