Hi everyone,

I've been studying Japanese for some time now and I was going through a conversation that a friend gave me to practice. I am having a hard time getting what the exact meanings are and what relates to what. But I think I get the basic idea. Maybe you can help me with it. I would very much appreciated. :) ありがとうございました in advance for helping me.

Greetings Max

This is the part I am having trouble with.

Person A:
(This seems to be about having a hard day and going to Wiesbaden and then having a problem with the bike.)

(Person A its surprised that she received a message from Peter asking whether Person A is gonna go to the netherlands soon? Did I get that right?)

Person B:

(This I don't really get...)
(Someone being nostalgic? Is it referring to the trip or to Peter?)

Person A:

(This is about the crash. Rain has stopped? Puncture being scary?)

(This is super confusing for me. Who is thinking about whom? Person A about Person A? Or Peter about Person A? Or Person A about Peter? And it also says something about wondering what the purpose is. Am I right?)

There must be a typo/typos in 何がだんでもきつい, and some words sound odd (the choice of words is not appropriate).

That's a very colloquial private conversation. It must be extremely hard to understand for beginner learners, and therefore is not suitable for "practice". Where did your friend get it from? Does he/she know them or one of the two?

She is a really good friend of mine and it is a conversation she had with a friend. She gave me a long part of it to practice with as she said it would be good for me to also practise with non formal conversations. That is why I replaced the names and locations and called them Person A and B and only posted an excerpt of it. I also asked her for permission to ask on the forum since she is unable to help me at the moment.

一日、中にいるのは(何がだんでも doesn't make sense because of typo.)

近頃 sounds odd, but your interpretation is correct.

(This I don't really get...)

(Someone being nostalgic? Is it referring to the trip or to Peter?)
Peter

(This is about the crash. Rain has stopped? Puncture being scary?)

I was shocked

(This is super confusing for me. Who is thinking about whom? Person A about Person A? Or Peter about Person A? Or Person A about Peter? And it also says something about wondering what the purpose is. Am I right?)

用途 sounds odd also here. Probably what she wanted to say would be 用事 or 理由.

Thank you so much for your help. I get a lot more of the conversation now. But I must agree with you. For now this is just to hard and maybe to colloquial for me to practise with.

In respect to your concern of this being an excerpt of a private conversation I tried to delete the thread or at least edit my posts so that I could remove the conversation but I was not able to. Is there a way for me to do this? If not. May you be so kind and delete this thread, if possible?

Hi Max, we do not delete threads unless they violate our ToS or contain personally identifiable information. Neither seems to be the case here.

Well. I would still feel a lot better if the thread would just be deleted. Since it is an excerpt of a private conversation a friend gave me to study. I would very much appreciate it if you could make an exception just this once and just delete the thread.
