What's new

I need your talent for a translation

If that's critically important for you, I strongly recommend considering to hire a professional translator instead of rushing to ask around for help to strangers on the net.

Are you now composing messages to send to your granddaughter, pretending they are from your son? That's what it looks like.

I also think it best we not be involved in this..

That's not critically important for me. It's a sentence like there are others by a lot of members. Anyway cancel my thread if you prefer.

You're right, it was urgent but not critically important for myself as Toritoribe asked me.

Your various posts make me think I'm bad.

But at the same time you've already messaged three forum members directly with this translation request, saying that it's "urgent"...

I don't know if you're "bad", but I strongly get the impression you have been dishonest and deceptive with us. Your motive may be good but your methods are dubious.

I'm not and I was not dishonest with you. My first thread was about my granddaughter and this one is about another topic. So I created a new thread. Why my methods are dubious ?

This is all really, really suspicious :D. Apparently someone doesn't know enough Japanese to ask what was offensive about a message they sent earlier - but then, how did they write that message in the first place?

Are there different people writing to the same Japanese person, posing as one? If so, do they know about each other's actions? Not to mention, how does a foreigner who doesn't speak Japanese even start a relationship with a Japanese who (presumably) doesn't speak their language? Alternatively, if the Japanese person does speak the foreigner's language, is the foreigner trying to impress them with Japanese that someone else wrote for them? This sounds like drama material.

My morbid curiosity is tempting me to give you a translation and see what happens... But who knows what real-life consequences that would have out there.

I don't think this is the grandfather at all, but the father posing as the grandfather.

She speaks English, French and German. I try to write her a bit in Japanese to make her happy.

What is there suspicious !

Have you ever been in love ?

I'm sorry. There were many suspicious possibilities, good to hear that in reality it's not one of them.

Here's a translation: 私のメッセージの中にどの文のせいで悲しくなったか?

I'll add that this is a best effort from a foreigner studying in his free time, so I can't give guarantees on "naturalness". Also keep in mind that if you send her a message in Japanese, she'll take that as a sign that you're learning the language and may also start replying in Japanese. If that happens, you run into the risk of not understanding her and having to run back here; or having to admit to her that the initial question was not written by you, and that in fact you don't even understand it yourself.

Thank you for your advice. Usually I always write my messages (sentence by sentence) in 2 languages : mine and the other. I do it to limit misunderstandings.

So drop the か after all; I was unsure about this.

If it's not valid to use に(は) to establish the location which a question refers to, what should I use instead? Just メッセージは?
