I need to ask for a BIG favor from you guys...

So I came across this Japanese girl one day in a restaurant (she is a waitress), I have actually only seen her once but I have also been very busy with work so I didn't have time to go there or even talk to her..my boss told me I'm actually moving to a different location for work next Wednesday (my job involves moving around a lot and staying for couple of weeks in each location); I want to at least write her a letter in a language she would best understand the most and to also show my sincerity.

I understand Japanese and English works differently, so feel free to change up the way I word things.
I will be posting the letter shortly. Thanks.

Sort of insulting to assume she couldn't handle an English letter, don't you think?

You may be right, should I just keep it to English?

Sure. She's put a lot of work and emotional investment into her trip to Canada to function in English. Respect that.

Anyway, if she turns out not to be Japanese or she writes you back in Japanese and you can't read it you don't come off looking like a chump.

She is 100% Japanese...but I wanted to do something more special? Actually spending the effort to write in Jap I mean..

If someone else translates it for you it's not very special or personal.

If you feel the need, learn to write one or two simple phrases and write the rest in English. That way you're giving her the respect of putting in real effort towards her language. Not just sending someone's translation.

Hahahaha, that was funny. Thanks for the help, it was rather constructive criticism than anything. :)

Ya, I have to agree with what's been said. It's not really special if someone else translates it for you. If you really like this girl and are in a relationship, show some interest in her and her culture/language and Learn a bit. It'll really mean a lot to her.
