My goal is JLPT level 1 or at the very least....level 2.

What's a good gameplan and/or series of learning materials?
ie. Textbooks, recommended courses, etc?

What is your real goal? Is it to pass the JLPT? Or are you looking to reach a certain level of fluency?

Shouldnt level 2 be the goal and level 1 be at least? :p

I agree buddy we need to know your level of competancy first and how long you've been studying etc. A fully fledged grammar book would have meant very little to me when I first started which is why my first book was a simple Hiragana one because at the time I couldnt physically read the kana.

1) Learn Hiragana
2) Learn Katakana
3) For beginner level up to JLPT N4 ,pick up a book like Japanese for Busy People/Genki
4) For pre-advanced/advanced level, it's mainly learning of grammar, vocabulary.

There are many textbooks for the JLPT N1
We use Kanzen Master ( or the newer version Shin Kanzen Master)
You can find it on Amazon

Its a tough book though and you would probably be better off trying some Japanese lessons too .
