Dear native English speakers,
would you check my sentences?

1 Both sides of the street were planted with cherry trees.
2 I began to study Spanish three months ago.
3 Beautiful cherry blossoms were lined all along the river bank.
4 He often cut math classes. As a result, he failed the subject.
5 The dictionary took five years to complete.
6 Coffee is probably the most popular drink in the world.
7 I work in the toy department of ABC Store.
8 I stayed in Singapore during summer vacation last year.
9 The United States is indeed a rich country, but not everyone there is rich.
10 The train leaves Kyoto at 10:30, arriving at Tokyo at 13:32.

Most of them are fine. I'm not sure about no.1 tbh, because I'm not sure about the colloquial use of "plant", not being a gardener. To me it doesn't make sense because planting is an action, not a state, but I think it is sometimes used like that. I would use, as in no.3, "lined" in no.1.
However, in no.3 the trees are acting, not being acted on, so you don't need to use the passive, and "lined" means the entirety of the river bank, so "all along" is redundant. You can take both of these things out then, and end up with "Beautiful cherry blossoms lined the river bank."

As for no.1 and no.3, this is the original sentence from our textbook.
Next, three sections of the pedestrian-only roadway were planted with flowers and trees and lined with benches.

Does this sentence also sound strange to you?

And I'd like to give a sentence with "all along". How about this, instead?
There are a lot of people viewing the cherry blossoms all along the river bank.
